Our focus is to provide upland bird hunters a place they can visit that has a unique variety of upland bird species. Wyoming as a state provides this sort of unique opportunity with its multiple landscapes and seven species of game birds. One day you can find yourself on the high sage brush prairie hunting Sage Grouse, and the next day hunting wheat country for Hungarian Partridge and Sharptail Grouse. With lodges in two locations and a third lodging facility in the mountains, we can provide all this variety without losing the comforts of a lodge.

Wyoming Sage Grouse Hunting 2012 Season Sept. 15-30
Welcome to Wyoming, the wild Sage Grouse capitol of the world. Lace up your boots and get into the Wyoming bird hunting spirit by joining Grey Reef Wingshooting in pursuit of sage grouse over the wide open spaces of the state. Picture yourself on exciting Wyoming hunts, walking up with a steady dog on point and busting a covey of huge sage grouse. Learning to hunt sage grouse on your own can be a real bust, though, as these birds have enormous home ranges and often elude hunters who think just working the nearest sage brush will produce birds. Grey Reef Anglers & Wingshooting has leased private property, and has scouted and acquired the best spots over years of Wyoming hunting, so you spend more time actually hunting than just walking aimlessly over these huge spaces. These hunts book fast, so call today to make sure you get a spot.

Wyoming Blue Grouse Hunting Season Dates Sept.1-Nov 30
Blue Grouse hunting is as much about the setting as it is the bird. The raw beauty of mountain terrain filled with golden aspens set against forest green pines, crisp autumn air in your nose and sounds of bugling bull elk in your ears makes this Wyoming hunting setting is simply awesome. Blue Grouse are often referred to as 'fool's hens' due to their almost tame nature when around humans. Place a hunting dog on the ground, though, and these birds take the attitude of any other upland bird, as they will run, duck and hold tight. For Wyoming hunts, the challenge of blue grouse hunting is the shooting. You'll find yourself shooting as these birds rise and fly in, through, and around trees. For all thier down play Blue Grouse have schooled many wingshooters. Blue Grouse are a unique compliment to any Wyoming bird hunting package.
Packages and Rates are the same as mentioned above.
Blue Grouse Hunts are an all-day Wyoming hunting activity, and cannot be combined in the same day with other birds.
Wyoming Pheasant Hunting
Wyoming Pheasant Hunting with Grey Reef Wingshooting Season Dates Sept. 1 - Dec. 31 Call 307-267-2559
Wild Pheasant Hunting in Wyoming is a real treat because unlike the Dakotas our state wildlife agency does not release pen raised pheasants everywhere, so when you hunt one of our private lease properties you know your getting truly wild pheasants. Grey Reef Wingshooting has leased thousands of acres of private property that is being actively farmed so you will hunt a variety of cover and grain fields for wild pheasants as well as other upland species. These private farms are not groomed like a preserve so the hunting is very authentic and the birds are wild. These properties give you the option for a great wild Wyoming pheasant hunt. We also have four seperate preserve properties set up that have both wild and released birds on them for our cooperate groups that want to do more shooting and fill limits quickly. Combination Wyoming hunts for Pheasants, Hungarian Partridge, and Sharp Tailed Grouse make for a great day in the field.

Guns and Ammunition Selecting the right shotgun is a personal choice for Wyoming hunts. We've seen hunters use virtually every make and model available, with prices ranging from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. So, as long as your firearm offers you between-the-hand balance and the features you prefer in the field, bring it along. Gauges including 12, 16 and 20 are typically preferred for Pheasant, Grouse and Partridge. We don't usually recommend 28 gauges, however, some clients have proven to be very efficient with them.
Ammunition is not included in our fees, but may be purchased by us prior to your trip. We recommend 4 to 6 shot for all Wyoming bird hunting involving upland game birds, except quail/dove we reccommend 7's to 9's.
Clothing & Accessories
We suggest you pack for cool to colder temperatures. Click on our weather icon for latest conditions and up to date forecast. Include in your shooting bag a variety of Gore-Tex and fleece outerwear in order to help regulate your body temperature during a Wyoming hunting trip. While fall is typically beautiful, Wyoming weather can change quickly. Your hunt bag should also include waterproof/lightweight hunting footwear, a game vest, upland gloves, headwear, hearing protection, shooting glasses, choke tubes, oil and solvents, shell pouch and knife. While hunter orange outerwear is not required by law for Wyoming hunts, we at Grey Reef Anglers require that you wear a blaze orange hat or vest.
