Miracle Mile Guided Float Trips North Platte River |
Guided fly fishing float trips on the Miracle Mile section of the North Platte River is very different than the Grey Reef section. The water at the Miracle Mile is much faster and more rocky, and has a few different hatches. Fly fishing the Miracle Mile section gives the angler some great scenery and great trout fishing at the same time. Guided fly fishing float trips to the Miracle Mile will consist of both wade fishing and drift boat fishing. The Miracle Mile consists of many islands and side channels that are perfect for pulling the drift boat over and getting out to wade fish. Due to fluctuating flows, these islands can be secluded and you will often have them all to yourself.
Fly fishing the Miracle Mile section is slightly more technical than the Grey Reef section and lends itself to fisherman with a little more experience. The Miracle Mile fly fishing trip is a great compliment to those clients fishing with us for multiple days as you get to experience the vast contrast between Grey Reef and the Miracle Mile.

Miracle Mile Fly Fishing North Platte River Wyoming |
With great dry fly fishing and fantastic scenery the Miracle Mile really has it all. Smashed between two huge reservoirs, Pathfinder and Seminoe, this tailwater looks and fly fishes much like a free-stone river. Depending upon Pathfinder Reservoir levels, fly fishing float trips range between 5 and 12 miles. The “Miracle Mile” coined by famous broadcaster Curt Gowdy on the American Sportsman consists of fast rapid water coming out of Kortes Dam in the upper section which gradually gives way to slower water on the lower section, both sections teaming with big trout.
Every year the Miracle Mile produces some truly amazing trout. Wyoming Game and Fish biologists electro shock the Miracle Mile each year, trout numbers are about 3200 fish per mile, and each year they shock brown trout that exceed 10 pounds. Every year a few of our clients tie into one of these monsters. Pound for pound the trout at the “Mile” might be the best fighting fish you will ever encounter.
Aquatic life at the Miracle Mile is prolific and diverse. A summer hatch of giant golden stone flies leads to some fantastic dry fly fishing! Check out our fishing report for the latest conditions and fly fishing reports. Other hatches include caddis, pmd’s, baetis, yellow sallie stone flies and midges. If you have never fly fished the Miracle Mile book a float trip and see what you've been missing out on.
